The Major Incident Medical Management and Support (MIMMS) course equips multidisciplinary teams with a system to manage multi-casualty incidents, including pre-event planning, triage, command & control, radio procedure and patient transport.
Delivered by experts in EMS and Emergency Medicine, the course focuses on a hands-on, integrated approach to incident planning and management.
Certification is through the Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG) and is recognised as the industry standard qualification in disaster management.
Eligibility
It is intended for participants who provide immediate on-site emergency medical support at disaster scenes (air/rail/road incidents) and mass gatherings (concerts, sports events, festivals). Suitable candidates include (but are not limited to) doctors, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, first responders, voluntary first-aiders, health and safety staff and event promoters

Duration
Criteria for successful completion
- Complete MANDATORY pre-course tutorials (VLE)
- Actively participate in, practice, and complete all skills and learning stations
- Demonstrate competence in OSPEs covering METHANE message, radio communication, scene assessment, triage sieve, triage sort
- Score a minimum grade (80% or higher) on the final Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) paper.
