The Heartsaver AED (HS-AED) course is a comprehensive Basic Life Support course specifically designed to teach lay rescuers to deal with a life-threatening emergency. The course covers Adult & Child CPR, ventilation with a pocket face shield or a resuscitation face mask and Adult & Child Choking.
It also teaches the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This modular type of training programme is designed to promote a flexible approach to widespread lay rescuer training.
The HS-AED course is recommended for lay rescuers who could be called upon to deal with a life-threatening emergency.

These lay rescuers may include (but are not limited to) Occupational First Aiders, Qualified Lifeguards, Firefighters, Military Personnel, Garda Siochana, Electricity and Power-Generation Workers, First Responders, Postal Workers, Commercial Airline Crews, Security Personnel, Golf Club Members and Staff, Family Members of High-risk Patients, Sports Coaches, Banking Staff and other lay rescuers who have access to an AED.
